Dirk van Velzen, co-founder of PSF takes his fight for reform in correctional education directly to the Washington State Legislature. van Velzen testified before the House Appropriations Committee on Thursday, February 11, 2021 in support of HB 1044 Prison to Post Secondary Education. van Velzen, who was incarcerated from 1999 to 2015, founded PSF with his father, after realizing that many inmates wanted an education, but didn’t have the financial means to pay for it. PSF believes in second chances and works to provide education and employment assistance to help incarcerated people succeed and thrive in society while avoiding homelessness and the revolving door of re-incarceration. HB 1044 remains in committee and is scheduled for executive session in the House Committee on Appropriations on February 16, 2021. Antoinette Govanyoutu.be/tu15iaSlZgw ... See MoreSee Less

This video went viral on TikTok with 25 million views and counting; thus, Ocean Spray cranberry juice sales are through the roof. Also, Fleetwood Mac is in the top 10. Oh, and Ocean Spray bought him a truck. This, folks, is the power of social media.

No one should be profiteering off of our criminal justice system. That’s why today, I ordered the Department of Justice to end the use of private prisons by the federal government.
